Two years ago, the sudden closure of offices and workplaces signaled the beginning of a new age of remote working. Covid-19 has doubled the number of people working from home while businesses and companies had to act and find short-term solutions.

The truth is that many employees were not prepared for teleworking and experienced many challenges to maintain productivity and find their work-life balance. However, this new challenging period changed how we work and interact with others when being outside our everyday workspaces.

Why, after the pandemic 82% prefer to work at home rather than go to the office?

According to recent studies, telecommuting has become the new normal. Working remotely has the advantage that you can set up your work environment as you want.

Working in a place where you feel comfortable makes you more productive and gives you a sense of freedom.

Additionally, who wouldn't want to work from their safe space? All that is required is a good internet connection.

Working from home can benefit both the employee and employer, as it is cost-saving. More specifically, the employee saves money and time as she/he does not have to get up early to go to the office and drive in traffic. On the other hand, the employer saves time in energy at the office while can get in contact with the employer at any time he/she wants, via phone, email, or video call.

During the pandemic, video communication platforms such as Zoom or Teams have become extremely popular in the workplace, as everyone realized how easy they are to use. Now, people can connect instantly and create an immersive home office experience with a single click.

What seemed unthinkable in the pre-Covid-19 era, meaning people having their homes as offices, is now becoming a new reality that is satisfying for both sides.

People are more productive working at home than people would have expected. Some people thought that everything was just going to fall apart and it hasn’t” -Mark Zuckerberg.

Who knows, maybe one day there will be no offices anymore…

I agree 100% with your approach to remote working. I am an individual who has been working half his days from home since the outburst of Covid-19, and it is an experience that I much prefer. For me, working at home is more beneficiary. I get to sleep more, and also avoid traffic during the morning. Another aspect that I enjoy is that I get to work wearing my pajamas and slippers which makes me feel much more relaxed and calm. I have been dreaming of working from home since ever, and now that I get to enjoy it, I can honestly say that I will never agree to return office on a full-time base.
